Grade 5 students may not be aware that launching a business is a viable career option that can bring them amazing opportunities. In JA’s Our Business World program, they can explore how businesses are created and what makes them thrive. Using games and multimedia, students will learn about innovation, start-ups and self-employment!

Entrepreneurs drive the Canadian economy, strengthen communities and create jobs. However, children are often not encouraged to become entrepreneurs. In JA’s newly updated A Business of My Own Online program, students will put on their entrepreneurial hat and run their own retail business. They'll learn how to start a business, produce and promote their products, track their finances and manage a team. Teachers may opt to have their class run a virtual business via the Business of Our Own online game.

Through the newly updated Dollars With Sense Online program, students can get the vital tools they'll need to make smart financial decisions, live debt-free and become a savvy investor. Students will learn personal money management skills that they can apply to their lives beginning now.

The transition from high school to post-secondary education or employment can be overwhelming. Students may even feel that their high-school experiences haven’t adequately prepared them to meet the demands of university, a career, or living on their own. In Economics for Success Online, students can take a closer look at the advantages of staying in school, as well as learn what’s needed to succeed in today’s workforce.

Personal Finance is JA’s new financial literacy program for Grade 9-12 students. The program teaches students personal money management skills including the key elements of personal finance such as spending wisely, budgeting, saving, investing and using credit.

In JA’s Entrepreneurial Trades online program, students will encounter multiple learning mediums that will assist them in understanding, analyzing, evaluating and applying financial and business skills essential for a successful trades career. Students will learn the business side of the skilled trades to complement the technical training they receive in school. Combined, these skills help students successfully transition to further education or employment opportunities.
